1996 New York criteria for ankylosing spondylitis
Diagnostic criteria:
1) limitation of motion of the lumbar spine in all 3 planes
a) anterior flexion
b) lateral flexion
c) extension
2) pain at the dorsolumbar junction or in the lumbar spine
3) limitation of chest expansion to 1 inch (2.5 cm) or less measured at the level of the 4th intercostal space
