Stucture: - subcapsular zone, comprises up to 15% of adrenal cortex Function: - synthesis of mineralocorticoids, principally aldosterone - feedback control via renin-angiotensin-aldosterone axis Histology: - cells arranged in ovoid clusters and curved columns, continuous with cellular cords of zona fasciculata.
