14-3-3 protein zeta/delta; protein kinase C inhibitor protein 1; KCIP-1 (YWHAZ)

Function: - adapter protein implicated in regulation of both general & specialized signaling pathways - binds to many protein, usually by recognition of a phospho-Ser or phospho-Thr motif - binding generally results in modulation of the activity of the binding partner - isoform delta differs from isoform zeta in being phosphorylated (putative) Structure: - homodimer. - belongs to the 14-3-3 family Compartment: - cytoplasm, melanosome Note: - originally thought to have phospholipase A2 activity [2]
