YEARS clinical decision rule; YEARS score

Procedure: - based on 3 criteria - clinical signs of deep vein thrombosis - hemoptysis - whether pulmonary embolism is the most likely diagnosis - + plasma D-dimer concentrations (< 500 mg/dL or age-adjusted value) [1,2] Interpretation: - in patients without YEARS items & plasma D-dimer < 1000 ng/mL, or in patients with one or more YEARS items & plasma D-dimer < 500 ng/mL, pulmonary embolism is considered excluded [1]
