X-ray radiation resistance-associated protein 1 (XRRA1)

Function: - may be involved in the response of cells to X-ray radiation Structure: contains 6 LRR repeats (leucine-rich repeats) Compartment: cytoplasm. nucleus Alternative splicing: named isoforms=4 gene model based on mouse cDNA data Expression: - expressed predominantly in testis - expressed in prostate & ovary > other tissues including peripheral blood leukocytes, spleen, thymus, small intestine & colon - induced by X-ray radiation immediately after exposure & is then down-regulated two-fold in an X-ray radiation-resistant cell clone. responds differently to X-ray radiation in clones of varying radiation responses Pathology: - expressed in neuroblastoma, glioma, breast cancer, lung cancer, leukemia, renal cell carcinoma, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, & colorectal cancer cell lines
