WD repeat protein 48 (WD repeat endosomal protein, p80, WDR48, KIAA1449)
Function:
1) role in vesicular transport or membrane fusion events necessary for transport to lysosomes
2) C-terminal region mediates lysosomal localization
Compartment: lysosome
Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2
Expression: ubiquitous
Pathology:
1) induces lysosomal vesicle formation via interaction with Herpesvirus saimiri tyrosine kinase-interacting protein (TIP)
2) subsequently TIP recruits tyrosine-protein kinase LCK, resulting in down-regulation of T-cell antigen receptor TCR
3) may play role in generation of enlarged endosomal vesicles via interaction with TIP
