Function: - downstream effector involved in signal tranduction from tyrosine kinase receptors & small GTPases to the actin cytoskeleton - binds actin & the Arp2/3 complex - interacts with BAIAP2 - component of the WAVE2 complex - directly interacts with C3orf10/HSPC300 Structure: - binds the Arp2/3 complex through the C-terminal region & actin through verprolin homology (VPH) domain - belongs to the SCAR/WAVE family - contains 1 WH2 domain Compartment: - cytoplasm, cytoskeleton (putative) - cell projection, lamellipodium (putative) - at the interface between the lamellipodial actin meshwork & the membrane (putative) Expression: - expressed in all tissues - strongest expression in placenta, lung, & peripheral blood leukocytes
