valrubicin (Valstar)

Indications: - bladder cancer - intravesical therapy of BCG-refractory carcinoma in situ of the urinary bladder - cystectomy is not an option Dosage: - 800 mg intravesically once a week for 6 weeks - use four 5 mL single use vial 40 mg/mL (800 mg) - dilute with 55 mL normal saline to a volume of 75 mL Adverse effects: - urinary symptoms - urinary frequency, urgency - dysuria - urinary incontinence - hematuria
