Indications: - use as hormonal contraceptive - hormone replacement therapy - vaginal ring containing dapivirine may be useful for prevention of HIV1 [1] Contraindications: - a contraceptive vaginal ring contains estrogen - history of breast cancer - uncontrolled hypertension - liver disease - migraine with aura - smoking > 15 cigarettes/day in women > 35 years - risk for venous thromboembolism [2]
