The recess at the vault of the vagina. 3 parts with respect to its relation to the cervix of the uterus 1) Anterior 2) Posterior -> Clinically significant as the site for culdocentesis & culdoscopy 3) Lateral -> Clinical importance. relate to the proximity of the ureter (below) & the uterine artery(above) adjacent to this fornix
