Structure: - the larger of 2 membranous sacs in the vestibule of the labyrinth - it lies in the ellipitical recess & gives rise to the semicircular canals. Function: - senses horizontal movement Pathology: - hearing loss is not associated with utricle dysfunction [2] - utricle function is preserved in elderly [2]
