Indications: - absolute uterine infertility - absence of uterus - non-functional uterus Procedure: - transplants are intended to be temporary - to be removed after a woman has 1-2 children, so she can discontinue immunosuppressive therapy Notes: - 1st successful live birth after uterine transplantation [1] - 1st uterine transplant in the United States [2] - first uterine transplant in the U.S failed [3] - the transplant was removed on after the patient developed a serious complication [3] (details pending) - transplant was removed due to yeast infection [4] - Baylor hopes for uterine functionality [5]
