flavoxate (Urispas, Bladderon)

Tradename: Urispas. Indications: - symptomatic relief of dysuria, nocturia, suprapubic pain, urinary frequency, urinary urgency & urinary incontinence Dosage: 100-200 mg PO TID/QID. Tabs: 100 mg. Adverse effects: 1) common (> 10%) - drowsiness, dry mouth & throat (anti-cholinergic effects) 2) less common (1-10%) - tachycardia, palpitations, nervousness, fatigue, vertigo, headache, constipation, nausea/vomiting, hyperpyrexia 3) uncommon (< 1%) - confusion (especially in the elderly), increased intraocular pressure, leukopenia, rash Mechanism of action: anti-spasmodic agent
