tropical eosinophilia
Etiology: (probable)
1) Wuchereria bancrofti
2) Brugia malayi
Clinical manifestations:
1) nocturnal cough
2) dyspnea
3) wheezing
4) fever
5) weight loss
6) malaise
Laboratory:
1) complete blood count (CBC) with differential
- eosiniphilia (20-50%)
Radiology:
- chest X-ray
- normal or may show diffuse reticulonodular infiltrates
Management:
- diethylcarbamazine citrate (Hetrazan)
