Etiology: 1) physiologic tremor 2) essential tremor 3) cerebellar tremor - intention tremor - degenerative diseases - multiple sclerosis - neurotoxicity 4) resting tremor - parkinsonism - lewy body dementia - parkinson plus syndrome - Parkinson's disease Clinical manifestations: - rhythmic, oscillating, involuntary movement of the extremities, trunk, or head & neck - may occur at rest or with action - may be suppressed by the patient - typically absent during sleep - may be exacerbated by anxiety, fatigue & numerous medications Laboratory: none routinely indicated. Management: depends upon specific type.
