exercise stress testing
Indications:
- angina pectoris with ability to exercise
- left-bundle branch block acceptable for exercise stress echocardiography [2]
Contraindications:
- exercise intolerance (COPD)
Procedure:
- discontinue beta-blocker 24-48 hours prior to testing [1]
- beta-blockers &/or nitrates can be continued if they are long-term medications & the indication for stress testing is to assess need for additional evaluation (coronary angiography), or to assess the efficacy of current therapy (MKAP20) [1]
Notes:
- myocardial ischemia during exercise stress testing due to coronary artery disease [1]
