Surgical procedure.
Indications:
- benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH)
- localized prostate cancer
Advantages:
- traditionally gold standard for treatment of BPH
Disadvantages:
1) hospitalizations of 1-3 days
2) post-operative catherization for one or more days
3) risk of prolonged bleeding
4) urinary incontinence
5) sexual dysfunction
