transient global amnesia

Etiology: - associated with triggers that cause transient intracranial venous hypertension - Valsalva maneuver - sexual activity - emotional shock - risk factors for recurrence - earlier age of 1st episode - history of migraine or family history of migraine Epidemiology: - middle age or older adults Clinical manifestations: - antegrade amnesia, profound memory loss & disorientation - duration 4-6 hours Radiology: - neuroimaging, usually are normal Complications: - often no sequelae occur
