Triamcinolone Topical (Aristocort, Kenacort)
Tradenames: Aristocort, Kenacort, Kenalog in Orabase
Indications:
- anti-inflammatory agent
Contraindications:
Caution: Halogenated steroids should not be used on face
1) rebound worsening
2) steroid-induced rosacea or atrophy
Dosage:
- apply TID/QID
Cream: 0.025%, 0.1%, 0.5%.
Ointment:
- 0.025% (15 & 80 g), 0.1% (15, 60, 240 g), 0.5% (15 g).
- 454 gram jar (1 pound)
- an average of 30 g (1 oz) needed to cover a 70 kg person [1]
Lotion: 0.025% (60 mL), 0.1% (15 mL, 60 mL). Paste 0.1% (Kenalog in Orabase) Class 3: 0.5%, Class 4 & Class 5: 0.1%, Class 6: 0.025% (medium potency).
