Etiology: - patients with neurologic developmental disabilities - epilepsy with multiple seizure types Clinical manifestations: 1) short in duration (a few seconds) 2) generalized muscle rigidity 3) consciousness may or may not be lost 4) generally painful if consciousness is maintained 5) falls are common
