Etiology: - meralgia paresthetica - femoral fracture, including atypical femoral fracture (subtrochanteric stress fracture) due to bisphosphonate use (rare) - shingles (pain may precede rash by hour to a day or so) - hip osteoarthritis (pain on rotation of hip) - L3 radiculopathy
