thenar eminence

The thenar eminence refers to the fleshy mass at the lateral side of the palm of the hand, i.e. the ball of the thumb. Muscles: muscles making the bulk of the thenar eminence include: 1) abductor pollicis brevis 2) flexor pollicis brevis 3) opponens pollicis (deep) Structure: -the thenar eminence is covered by the thenar fascia Innervation: derives from cervical spinal nerve C8 Notes: -also see compartments of palm
