Function: 1) nucleotide excision repair (NER) of DNA 2) RNA transcription by RNA polymerase 2 (when complexed to CAK) 3) binds to TFIIF/RNA polymerase II/TFIID/TFIIA/TFIIB & is required for transcription 4) TFIIH contains: a) CDK7 as catalytic subunit of kinase activity at C-terminal domain [RNA polymerase-2 CTD consensus repeat] of RNA pol II L' subunit b) helicase activity for RNA polymerase II-mediated transcription 5) two of its subunits comprise protein products of genes that correct DNA repair deficits in Xeroderma Pigmentosum 6) TFIIH may function as an excision repair complex independent of its involvement in transcription.
