Pharmacokinetics: - active metabolite 11-hydroxytetrahydrocannabinol - metabolized to 11-nor-9-carboxy-delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol Adverse effects: - used during encoding impairs memory acquisition - used during retrieval associated with false recognition of words & images [3] - vitamin E acetate found in most of the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) vaping products tested in patients with severe respiratory illness [4] - impairs driving [5] - dose-related dizziness & changes in thinking & perception with THC only but not THC-CBD combination Laboratory: - tetrahydrocannabinol in hair - tetrahydrocannabinol in blood - tetrahydrocannabinol in gastric fluid - tetrahydrocannabinol in meconium - tetrahydrocannabinol in serum/plasma - tetrahydrocannabinol in stool - tetrahydrocannabinol in urine* * delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol homologs may evade qualitative urine drug screen Comparative biology: - a chronic low dose of delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol may restore CB1 receptor signaling in old mice [2] - potential effective strategy to treat age-related cognitive impairment [2]
