Structure:
- a prominent fold in dura mater, roofing the posterior cranial fossa, separating the cerebellum from the basal surface of the occipital lobe & temporal lobeof the cerebral cortex
- the tentorial notch is its anterior median opening through which the midbrain passes.
- it is attached along the midline to the falx cerebri
