Tensor muscle of soft palate.
Origin:
1) scaphoid fossa of sphenoid
2) cartilagenous & membranous part of auditory (eustachian) tube
3) spine of sphenoid
Insertion:
1) posterior border of hard palate
2) aponeurosis of soft palate
Action:
1) tenses soft palate
2) contributes to opening of the auditory tube
Innervation:
-> branches of the trigeminal nerve (CN V) via the otic ganglion
