Etiology: - familial hypercholesterolemia (pathognomonic) [2] - cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis - sitosterolemia Clinical manifestations: - lipid deposition within tendons, ligaments & fascia - smooth, firm, lobulated nodules over extensor surfaces, especially over extensor tendons of hands, elbows, knees, & Achilles tendon Laboratory: - LDL cholesterol elevated
