TACTICS-TIMI trial

The study evaluated 18 patients with unstable angina or non-ST- segment elevated myocardial infarction. Patients were randomized to: a) early angiography (within 48 hours), or b) conservative measures (angiography & revascularization if recurrent ischemia at rest or with provocative testing, despite medical therapy) Patients receiving early angiography had significantly reduced rates of combined: 1) death 2) recurrent myocardial infarction 3) rehospitalization for acute coronary syndrome Patients with elevation of troponin levels were found to benefit from early angiography.
