T helper 1 (Th1)
Function:
Production of cytokines:
1) IFN-gamma, IFN-alpha [4]
2) TNF-beta
in addition to GM-CSF, IL-2, IL-3, IL-10, IL-13 produced by both Th1 & Th2 cells.
Additional functions:
- executes cell-mediated immune responses
a) delayed hypersensitivity
b) macrophage activation
c) immune response to viruses & bacteria
