Subset to this trial involving vascular dementia & antihypertensive therapy
Treatment:
1) start nitrendipine
2) add enalapril & HCTZ as needed
Results:
1) similar to Systolic Hypertension in Elderly Program (SHEP)
2) incidence of vascular dementia 0.77% in treated group vs 0.38% in placebo group
