sutural cataract with punctate & cerulean opacities

Pathology: - white opacification around the anterior & posterior Y sutures, & grayish & bluish, spindle shaped, oval punctate & cerulean opacities of various sizes arranged in lamellar form - spots are more concentrated towards the peripheral layers - they do not delineate the embryonal or fetal nucleus - phenotypic variation with respect to the size & density of the sutural opacities as well as the number & position of punctate & cerulean spots is observed among affected subjects Genetics: - associated with defects in CRYBB2
