sulfur dioxide (SO2)

A colorless, non-flammable gas with a strong, suffocating odor. It is a component of smog. [2] It is a reducing agent used to prevent oxidative degradation of food & medicinal products. When dissolved in water, sulfur dioxide forms sulfurous acid. SO2 + H2O H2SO3
