sublingual gland
One of 2 salivary glands in the floor of the mouth, beneath the tongue (the other is the submandibular gland).
Structure:
- most of the secretory units in the human gland are mucous- secreting with serous demilunes
Innervation:
- from a branch of the lingual nerve by way of the submandibular ganglion
Empties into:
- drainage is through the sublingual ducts
