stupor
A degree of consciousness between lethargy & coma characterized by arousal only by continuous stimuli. A stuporous patient arouses from sleep only after painful stimuli. Verbal responses are slow or even absent. The patient reverts to an unresponsive state when the painful stimulus ceases. He/she has minimal awareness of his/her environment.
