Function: - may control level of estrogen receptor by sulfurylating free estradiol - maximally sulfates beta-estradiol & estrone at concentrations of 20 nM - also sulfates dehydroepiandrosterone, pregnenolone, ethinylestradiol, equalenin, diethylstilbesterol & 1-naphthol, at significantly higher concentrations - cortisol, testosterone & dopamine are not sulfated 3'-phosphoadenylyl sulfate + estrone adenosine 3',5'-bisphosphate + estrone 3-sulfate Structure: - homodimer - belongs to the sulfotransferase 1 family Compartment: cytoplasm Expression: - expressed in liver, intestine & at lower level in the kidney
