Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin

Food poisoning occurs as a result of the preformed enterotoxin of Staphylococcus aureus. Clinical manifestations: 1) nausea & vomiting develop with 1-6 hours after ingestion of contaminated food 2) diarrhea follows 3) spontaneous resolution of symptoms occurs within 24 hours
