STAM3P score; STAM3P algorithm

Indications: - evaluation of rapidly progressive dementia for treatable causes Procedure: - 1 point each for - seizures - disease associated tumor - age < 50 years at onset - brain MRI suggestive of autoimmune encephalitis - mania - movement disorder - CSF pleocytosis (>= 10 cells/uL) Interpretation: - score of 1 at presentation captures 95% of potentially treatment-responsive cases - all patients with score of >= 3 have potentially treatment-responsive case (sensitivity 26%, specificity 100%) Notes: - false-negatives may include - Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome - small-vessel vasculitis - LGI1 encephalitis - cerebral amyloid angiopathy with inflammation
