Etiology: - risk factors - papillomavirus - smoking Pathology: - verrucous carcinoma (variant of squamous cell carcinoma) - grows slowly - locally destructive - rarely metastasizes Clinical manifestations: - glossodynia (tongue pain) - dysphagia - dysarthria Management: - methotrexate to reduce the size of the tumor prior to surgical excision (case report) [1] - prognosis: 5-year survival is 50% [2]
