Na+ retention

Retention rather than elimination of Na⁺ in the urine. Etiology: 1) hyponatremia 2) diminished osmolality 3) increased mineralocorticoid activity Pathology: - may retain free water with Na⁺ leading to edema &/or hypervolemia.
