skin end point titration (Rinkel method)
Unproven method used to guide immunotherapy.
Procedure:
1) serial intradermal testing is performed with various dilutions of allergen
2) based upon the end point dilution dividing positive vs. negative response, optimal doses of allergen as chosen for immunotherapy
Notes:
- dose of allergen chosen by this method is rarely large enough for effective immunotherapy
- no more effective than placebo for treating allergic rhinitis
General
