paired amphipathic helix protein sin3b; histone deacetylase complex subunit sin3b; transcriptional corepressor sin3b (SIN3B, KIAA0700, msin3B)
Function:
1) transcriptional repressor
2) interacts with MXI1 to repress MYC responsive genes; antagonizes MYC oncogenic activities
3) interacts with MAD-MAX heterodimers by binding to MAD; heterodimer represseses transcription by tethering SIN3B to DNA
4) forms a complex with FOXK1 which represses transcription
5) interacts with FOXK1, MXI1, MAD, NCOR1, SAP30, SDS3, HDAC1, HCFC1
Structure:
- PAH domain 2 of mSin3A/mSin3B required for MAD & MXI1 binding; first 25 aa of MAD also required
Compartment: nucleus
Alternative splicing: named isoforms=3
