silent myocardial ischemia
Epidemiology: common in patients with:
1) symptomatic stable coronary artery disease
2) unstable angina
3) after myocardial infarction
4) diabetes mellitus
Special laboratory: electrocardiogram:
- ST segment depression in the absence of:
a) angina pectoris
b) dyspnea
c) diaphoresis
Management:
1) similar to that for unstable angina
2) pharmaceutical agents:
a) nitrates
b) beta-blockers
c) calcium channel blockers
3) coronary angioplasty
4) coronary artery bypass graft
5) prognosis similar to that of symptomatic ischemia
