Indications: - suspected subacute thyroiditis Reference interval: - 3-40 ng/mL Clinical significance: - clinically useful: a) as a tumor marker for residual thyroid cancer b) to differentiate factitious thyrotoxicosis (low thyroglobulin) from true hyperthyroidism Increases: 1) hyperthyroidism 2) thyroiditis 3) variable levels with nodular thyroid disease
