sclerosing adenosis (fibrous adenosis)

A nodular, benign lesion of the breast or prostate. Epidemiology: -> occurs frequently in relatively young women (breast) Pathology: 1) hyperplastic, distorted lobules of acinar tissue 2) increased stroma 3) basal cell layer shows smooth muscle metaplasia (prostate) Differential diagnosis: -> adenocarcinoma
