- multistate outbreak of Salmonella Newport infections linked to onions from Thomson International* [1]
- red, white, yellow, & sweet yellow varieties
* other brand names that may be on labels include: Thomson Premium, TLC Thomson International, Tender Loving Care, El Competitor, Hartley's Best, Onions 52, Majestic, Imperial Fresh, Kroger, Utah Onions, & Food Lion.
Complications:
- 640 people sickened in 43 states
- 85 hospitalizations, no deaths have been reported.
Notes:
- on August 1, 2020, Thomson International, Inc., voluntarily recalled red, yellow, white, & sweet yellow onions
- onions were distributed to wholesalers, restaurants, & retail stores in all 50 states & the District of Columbia [1]
- Thumpson International is of Bakersfield CA
