RUN & FYVE domain-containing protein 1 (FYVE-finger protein EIP1, zinc finger FYVE domain-containing protein 12, La-binding protein 1, Rab4-interacting protein, RUFY1, RABIP4, ZFYVE12)
Function:
1) binds phospholipid vesicles containing phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate via FYVE-type zinc finger domain
2) early endosomal trafficking
3) interacts with BMX, SSB, & GTP-activated RAB4 & RAB5
4) phosphorylation on Tyr-389 &/or Tyr-400 is required for interaction with BMX & endosomal targeting
Structure:
- contains 1 FYVE-type zinc finger.
- contains 1 RUN domain
Compartment: cytoplasm, early endosomal membrane, peripheral membrane
Alternative splicing: named isoforms=3
Expression:
- broadly expressed
- highest levels in lung, testis, kidney, brain
