Electrocardiographic (ECG) criteria: 1) R > S in V1 & V2 2) S > R in V5 & V6 3) R in V1 > R in V5 4) right axis > 110 degrees 5) QRS < 112 msec (not right bundle branch block) Other causes of R in V1: 1) right bundle branch block - prolonged QRS 2) posterior myocardial infarction a) generally occurs in association with inferior wall MI b) Q's in II, III, aVF from inferior wall MI 3) Wolf Parkinson White (WPW) type A (accessory tract anterior to mitral valve)
