Macaca mulatta (rhesus)

Rhesus; rhesus macaque. Range: The rhesus macaques range in altitudes of 10,000 feet in Kashmir eastward through Assam, Tonkin, & China, to Fukien & Formosa. Social: They live in large groups, are good swimmers, & are noisy & pugnacious. Gestation is 5-7 months; usually 1 is born. Longevity: Life span in captivity is 30 years.
