Pathology: - disrupted eye development - blood vessels of eye may develop abnormally, leak & scar Special laboratory: - ophthalmoscopy Complications: - retinal detachment - severe retinopathy of prematurity associated with - cognitive impairment (RR=4) - hearing impairment Management: - oxygen for premature infants - cryotherapy - photocoagulation - eye surgery for retinal detachment
