Etiology: 1) cranial whiplash 2) blunt eye trauma [2] - no evidence that soccer ball heading causes retinal hemorrhage 3) retinopathy - diabetic retinopathy Clinical manifestations: - pain & swelling of affected eye - diminished visual acuity (case report visual acuity 20/400) Special laboratory: - ophthalmoscopy* - intraocular pressure may be normal - absent foveal reflex * image [2] Management: - pars plana vitrectomy with internal tamponade (case report) [2]
